Its also known as coronary artery disease,it is a progressive decrease of blood to the heart muscle because of the narrowing of the coronary artery. It is caused by a build-up of atheromatous plaques inside the arteries that deliver blood to the myocardium (the muscular tissue of the heart). Most people with coronary heart disease can seem well for years before they start experiencing symptoms, often a heart attack. If it goes untreated, some of the atheromatous plaques might break away and block the blood flow to the heart. Coronary heart disease is the most common cause of sudden death, and it is also the most common cause of death in people over 65 years old. Men are 10 times more likely to suffer from coronary heart disease than women.Yet it kills a lot of citizens.
Important, but indirect risk factors include:
Fixed:age, sex, family history
Modifiable:smoking, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, etc.
Prevention centers on the modifiable risk factors, which comprise declining cholesterol levels, addressing obesity and hypertension, avoiding a sedentary lifestyle, making healthy dietary choice, and stopping smoking. There is a few evidence that lowering homocysteine levels may contribute to more heart attacks (NORVIT trial). In diabetes mellitus, there is little evidence that very tight blood sugar control actually improves cardiac risk although improved sugar control appears to decrease other unwanted problems like kidney failure and blindness. Some suggest a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin C.
Ayurveda medicinal preparations are also known to have efficiency in treating Coronary heart disease like:
Arjuna is a tonic and blood purifying herb. Terminalia arjuna tree bark has a long history as a cardiac energizer. It has been used for coronary artery disease, heart failure, hypercholesterolemia and relief of anginal pain. It is also antibacterial & anti-mutagenic.
There are so many herbs for cardic problems.
